    Late Goal Denies Women’s Soccer Back-to-Back Tournament Titles

    Despite out-shooting Oklahoma Baptist 8-2 in the second half, the Golden Eagles (11-4-3) couldn’t figure out OBU keeper Emma Beck for the second time this season and the Bison used a late free kick tally to capture the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament championship, 1-0, over John Brown this afternoon at the OBU Soccer Complex.

    GameDay: Women’s Soccer at Oklahoma Baptist

    For the second-consecutive year, the Golden Eagles (11-4-3) will vie for a conference tournament championship and an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championships when it travels to Shawnee, Okla., this afternoon to face third-seeded Oklahoma Baptist (14-5-1) in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament finals at the OBU Soccer Complex.

    Once all the matches had finished this past weekend, the Sooner Athletic Conference released the bracket for the 2014 conference tournament which found John Brown (9-4-3) finishing in fourth place overall and will host fifth-seeded Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Friday (Nov. 6) at 2 p.m.

    Women’s Soccer Avoids Own Goal Letdown, Scores Consecutive Goals to Win, 2-1

    The John Brown women’s soccer team (9-4-3, 5-2-2 SAC) avoided a scare in the opening minutes as sophomore striker Braydi Frederick and freshman midfielder Sara Frey each tallied goals, allowing the Golden Eagles to earn a come-from-behind victory this afternoon over Mid-America Christian (Okla.) at the MACU Soccer Field in Oklahoma City.
