    For the first time in program history, the Golden Eagles (10-2) suffered a loss to Philander Smith (Ark.) as the host Panthers (8-2) rode a 22-5 rally midway through the second half to blow open a 66-61 game to finish off a 96-73 win this afternoon over John Brown inside Mims Gymnasium.

    Max-imum Drama: Hopfgartner’s Jumper Halts 30-Point Swing at Buzzer

    In the first game of a pivotal three-game stretch against ranked opponents, the Golden Eagles (10-1, 2-0 SAC) built a 29-point lead early in the second half only to have it erased by a 30-point swing, but senior Max Hopfgartner’s baseline jumper with 0.2 seconds fell, giving John Brown a 78-77 win over No. 12 Oklahoma Baptist tonight inside Bill George Arena.
